Former Indian Cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar puts his doubts on Jadeja’s selection in the Australia-bound T20I WC squad in an interview.
T20 WC is knocking at the door which will be taking place in Australia in October. Many experts have already put their opinions on what the team could look like. Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma also will be looking for the perfect XI in the next few months and fans expect that a settled team would be found before the Asia Cup.
At this moment India has more than one player in every position. All-rounder is one of the roles that would take an important part in the campaign. And Ravindra Jadeja is leading in the run of getting a chance in that place with his experience.
But former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has raised questions about the probable selection of Jadeja and said it won’t be easy for Jaddu to get selected as another Gujrati all-rounder Axar Patel has shown his performance. So he thinks that Indian selectors might go with Axar instead of Jadeja.
Jadeja didn’t have a good IPL season with the CSK. He was given captaincy though he left that in the mid-season. His performance was not up to the mark as he could only manage to score 116 runs with the bat and only took 5 wickets. So Manjrekar thinks it won’t be easy for the left-handed all-rounder. But he has also reminded us that with the caliber Jadeja has, he won’t make the job easy for the selectors to deselect him.
Jadeja was ruled out in the mid-season of IPL due to injury and would be in action in the IND vs ENG test match that would be starting from 1st July. Now Jadeja have to make sure his performance would shut the mouth of his critics and drop away all the questions that had been raised regarding him in the last few months. It’s clear if Jadeja is in the team he would certainly be a gem for captain Rohit Sharma for his brilliance in all three departments.
