Sri-Lankan fans won the hearts of millions of cricket lovers when they thanked Australia and chanted for the visiting team after the last match of the series.
Australia has just half-finished their tour to Sri-Lanka of 3 matches T20I series and 5 matches ODI series. Australia have won the T20I series but the hosts came back in the ODI series and defeated Australia by 3-2 margin. It was a hard-fought series for both teams but the home team came above the Aussies since 1992. Though Australia won the last match of the series by 4 wickets it was not enough to restrict Sri Lanka to win the series. There are two more test matches left in this tour which are expected to be equally excited for the fans.
But all rivalry aside, the main attraction happed not during the match but after the match. A video clip has gone viral over the social media of Colombo cricket stadium where it’s showing that every Sri-Lankan fan wore yellow t-shirts instead of blue to thank the Australia team and chant for them as they visited their country during a tough time.
Sri Lanka is going through a huge economic crisis and the Australian team managed to bring smiles to the faces of fans. There were banners all-around showing “Thank you Australia”. The mark of gratitude that Sri-Lankan fans showed to Australia has been greatly accepted by the Australian team as they made a lap around the stadium.
