Indian star player Virat Kohli has departed by being played down on the delivery of Matthew Potts.
England captain Ben Stokes had won the toss in the 5th India vs England test and elected to bowl first as he wanted to take the advantage of the overcast condition and damp pitch. England bowlers stood up and performed brilliantly till now.
India has already lost 4 wickets for 85 runs till now. The two Indian openers got out cheaply. Shubman Gill could manage to score 17 runs while other opener Cheteshwar Pujara returned to the pavilion with only 13 runs. Both were dismissed by James Anderson.
But India got the most massive blow when Matthew Potts dismissed Virat Kohli. The young pacer bowled an outside off stump length delivery which got inside the edge of Virat and crashed into the stumps. Virat had to pay the price of being two-minded, whether to play or leave the ball, and eventually got late. Virat returned to the pavilion after adding only 11 runs to the scoreboard.
Currently, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are at the crease. Both have to make a good partnership from here to get into a respectable total as this is the last recognized batting pair. After these only the all-rounders and bowlers are left. If these two promising batsmen can take their team out of danger from this position, both will be able to establish their position more firmly in red-ball cricket.
