Watch: Paul Stirling’s bat gets broken into two pieces
Ireland’s star batsman Paul Stirling’s bat got broken into two pieces in only the 2nd over of the Ireland vs New Zealand T20I match.
Ireland was taking on New Zealand for the 2nd T20I on Wednesday. Batting first, New Zealand put up a score of 179 runs with the help of Dane Cleaver’s amazing 78*(55) runs innings.
Ireland couldn’t put up a fight while chasing and got completely crashed on only 91 runs within 14 overs. Michael Bracewell was outstanding in bowling as he took a brilliant hat-trick. But New Zealand’s pacer Jacob Duffy stole the show in his first over.
Duffy bowled a length delivery on his first ball which had a good pace, Stirling went to push it on front foot but the ball hit the weak spot of the bat and eventually the bat broke into two pieces.
Stirling had a good start in the first over as he made 11 in the first over. But on the first ball of the second over his blade got shattered.
Eventually Stirling got out on 21 runs though it didn’t help the Irish team to avoid a humiliation of the big loss in this match. New Zealand won the match by 88 runs and secured a lead of 2-0 in this 3 match T20I series.
