Watch: Niroshan Dickwella did a ‘MS Dhoni’ against Imam-ul-haq

Pakistan opener Imam-Ul-Haq suffered a bizarre dismissal in the 1st test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

Pakistan got a target of 342 and their openers gave them a steady start and put up a 68 runs stand. But then Imam faced a bizarre dismissal.

It was the 29th over of the Pakistan innings when Imam faced Sri Lankan spinner Ramesh Mendis. Imam was beaten by one that left him with bounce. Wicket Keeper Niroshan Dicwella waited for the foot of Imam ul haq to raise and then he dislodged the bails very cleverly. But no other fielder raised their voice but he kept on appealing again towards the square-leg umpire and this time the appeal was referred to the third umpire.

Third umpire Rod Tucker checked at the possible stumping from all angles as conclusive evidence was needed. The square angle showed that the Imam’s backfoot was off the ground as he dragged it back. Tucker looked at it frame by frame before agreeing to the appeal of the Sri-Lankan keeper as the giant screen showed ‘OUT’.

The incident reminds us of MS Dhoni’s brilliant stumping in the T20 World Cup 2016 when he dismissed Shabbir for his brilliant skills.

Twitter erupted after watching this dismissal from an international player. The social media slammed the Pakistani opener by saying him “Lazy”, “Foolish” etc. Though some fans are not happy with the way Imam ul Haq was given out and some experts have to say that ICC should introduce a separate rule for this as a wicketkeeper shouldn’t wait for that much of time to dislodge the bail.
