New Zealand beat England in the second test on the thrilling last day.
New Zealand won the game by 1 run and levelled the series after lagging behind by 1-0. The series trophy has been distributed between New Zealand & England. In the Wellington test, New Zealand created history as they became the first time in 21 years to win a game after playing follow on.
Neil Wagner scalped the last wicket of England in the form of James Anderson and after that Kiwis started celebrating the historic win. Kane Williamson was adjudged player of the match for his outstanding hundred in the first innings whereas Harry Brook was declared the player of the series.
Earlier England scored 435/8 in their first innings, while trailing New Zealand’s innings bundled out for just 209. After that England captain Ben Stokes took a courageous decision to enforce follow on on New Zealand. New Zealand while batting in their second innings posted a huge total of 483 runs and gave England the target of 258 to win. But England fell short of 1 run despite Joe Root’s classy 95-run-knock.
