Watch: Deepak Chahar mankads Kaia, refused to appeal
Deepak Chahar sets an example of good sportsmanship spirit in the 3rd ODI vs Zimbabwe as he refused to appeal after mankading Zimbabwe opener Innocent Kaia.
Indian captain KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first. With the help of a magnificent century of promising batter Shubman Gill, India scored 289/8 in their 50 overs.
Chahar started the proceedings for the Indian bowling innings and from the very first delivery, he made the crowd erupt with noise.
Chahar started his run-up for the first delivery, but even before he reached the bowling crease the non-striker batsman Innocent Kaia left his crease. The swing bowler of India didn’t lose any moment to dislodge the bail at the non-striker end. According to the rule, it should have been a clear wicket but Chahar didn’t appeal for the wicket, showing sportsmanship spirit. Umpire warned the batter as it was the very first ball of the innings.

After this incident fans left divided into two parts. Some Calling it should have been given out as it’s done according to the cricket rule book. There is no place for showing sportsmanship spirit here while the other part appreciated Deepak for his act.
Deepak is making his comeback after a long time in the Indian team due to injury. After a slow and steady rehab, the swing star of India has been seen in his full flow in this series. In the first ODI, he took 3 wickets in his comeback match, and in this match, he continued in the same rhythm after taking a break in the 2nd ODI.
The T20 WC is knocking at the door. If Chahar can show the same flow he would be a great asset for the team India down under in October.
