Ben Stokes announced his retirement from ODI cricket and shocked the cricket fraternity with the sudden decision. Regarded as one of the best all-rounders of this era, it will really be hard to watch ODI cricket without him.
Ben Stokes on his retirement post, wrote that 1st ODI against South Africa will be his last ODI game. He added that it is not easy to play all three formats at the same time. However he will continue to contribute for England in Test & T20I cricket. He also mentioned about his home city Durham where he will play his last ODI game in front of the home crowd.

Talking about the match, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first. Ben Stokes led his team in the ground. All his teammates and crowd applauded and cheered for him. Stokes was looking emotional in the video.

Prior to his retirement news, Ben Stokes failed to perform in the 3rd ODI scoring just 29 runs. Even in the first two ODIs, he could not score big after having a good start. Ben Stokes has played 104 ODI games for England with total of 2919 runs in his tally and amazing scoring rate of 95. He has also picked 74 wickets in 87 innings he played
