England’s star allrounder Ben Stokes lauded India’s ace batter Virat Kohli.
Ben Stokes was asked about Virat Kohli’s century drought for over 3 years, on which Stokes said that Virat could have four unbelievable years like he had and then have a not-so-loud couple of months and then for some reason, players like that will get written off. He has got no idea why. He thinks he(kohli) is earned the right to never be written off.
You don’t produce the numbers and the innings Kohli does over all three formats… as players and people who play against him a lot, you never take anything he’s done in the game before into the game he’s got here, Stokes added.
Stokes also commended Suryakumar Yadav who is dominating the ongoing tournament scoring 225 runs in 5 games with an outrageous strike rate of 190-plus.
He has obviously come in and set the world alight. He is a fantastic player and plays some shots where you sort of just scratch the head sometimes. He is in great form, but hopefully, we can try and shut him down and not allow him to get on one of his rampages, Stokes said about Surya.
England finished at number 2 in their groups points table. In the last game they defeated Sri Lanka owing to Stokes’ brilliant anchoring innings and qualified for semifinal. England will take on India in the second semifinal on 10th in Adelaide.
