A lot of drama occurred during the Group B game of T20 World Cup between India & Bangladesh.
India set a target of 185 runs for Bangladesh in 20 overs. Virat Kohli topped in highest scorer list of the match by smashing 64 runs 44 balls. He got a good support by Kl Rahul who scored his first fifty of the World Cup as well as a fantastic cameo by Suryakumar Yadav of 30 runs.
While chasing, Bangladesh had a great start as they scored 67/0 in 7 overs. Liton Das was smashing the ball all over the park but then rain arrives and match got interrupted for about an hour. After that, match was reduced to 16 overs & target shrunk to 151 runs as per DLS method.
But during the 7th over the innings, Litton Das pushed a single off Axar Patel towards the off side and came back for a couple. When Arshdeep Singh the fielder, threw the ball towards the keeper, India’s Virat Kohli, standing a few metres in front of Dinesh Karthik, was seen making a gesture of collecting the ball and throwing towards Dinesh Karthik even when he was not in contact with the ball.
Bangladesh wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan after the game accused Virat Kohli for fake fielding and told the reporters that the 5 penalty runs could have made difference in match result. However, as per reports, Hasan might be sanctioned for criticising the match officials as none of the batter i.e Shanton or Liton were distracted or deceived by Kohli’s gesture.
