South Africa took on England in the first match of ODI series and triumphed over them with ease. South Africa had set the target of 333 runs for the hosts, England while chasing could manage to reach 271 with the help of Root and Bairstow’s half centuries but fell short of 62 runs.
In the 18th over, when Anrich Nortje bowled a full length delivery to Jonny Bairstow on the 5th ball of the over, Bairstow played an elegant straight drive with soft hands but what’s happened after that is not that kind of view any cricket fan wants to witness.
Mid-off fielder Andile Phehlukwayo ran to stop the ball, from the opposite side Keshav Maharaj from mid-on did the same. In effort of catching the ball, they bumped into each other and the ball went for boundary. After the bump, Phehlukwayo was the one who was looking more affected from the collision. His face got struck by Maharaj’s shoulder. Just after the collision, a physio took out Andile from the field.
