Flamboyant Indian batsman Virat Kohli may participate in ODI series against Zimbabwe to regain his form. India have to travel Zimbabwe for 3-match ODI series which is to commence from 18th August.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to happen in last week of August. A BCCI official said that they want Virat Kohli to get back in his old touch before Asia Cup, Thus, they want him to be available for series against Zimbabwe. KL Rahul can be seen captaining Team India on the tour. Currently he is in NCA, undergoing the rehab process.
A BCCI official said that there are still some left for team selection meeting regarding Zimbabwe tour. They want Virat Kohli to get his rhythm back by touring the African country. ODI is Kohli’s best format. He can get back in his old form before Asia Cup. They are considering to send second-class team for the tour.
Virat Kohli has been totally out of form in ODIs which is actually said to be his best format. In the recent 3-match ODI series against England, his scores were 16&17. In 2022, Kohli is averaging just 21.87 in 8 innings scoring 175 runs including two fifties. It is the lowest he has averaged in a calendar year ever since 2008. Fans must be hoping to see him on Zimbabwe tour so that they can witness the vintage ‘King Kohli’.
