It has always been a hot topic whether Dinesh Karthik is AB De Villiers of India or not. Now, former Indian all-rounder, Irfan Pathan comes up with his statement on this topic during the Bengaluru T20I washout.
Veteran wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik made a stunning comeback in IPL, this year with his bat by scoring 330 runs in 10 innings with a brilliant strike rate of 183.33, which made the door open for him in the international team too after almost three years. DK didn’t miss the opportunity and performed brilliantly in the home series against South Africa including his half-century in the 4th T20I on a tough pitch.

During the break at Bengaluru T20I due to rain, the host asks Irfan Pathan whether there is any similarity between Karthik and South African legend AB De Villiers. In reply, Pathan had a straightforward answer that it is much similar between both in ‘range of shot’ but not in ability. Both can play orthodox Shox, unorthodox shots including lap, reverse sweep, switch hit, and all.
Both can go after the bowler from the first ball which makes both good finishers. Karthik can play spinner and seamers with the same efficiency which is an important role for a middle-order batsman. But he didn’t forget to remind that from the point of view of ability AB was much ahead of DK.
Now Dinesh Karthik will be in action in Ireland in two T20Is, which India will play on the 26th and 28th of June. Karthik would play an important role in both games. If he can perform well team India will get a good option in the slot of finisher for the Mission T20 WC, which is going to take place in Australia at the end of the year
