Unfortunate for Shubman Gill as he remained not out on 98* in the 3rd ODI vs West Indies as rain interrupted the play.
In reply to India’s 226 runs in 36 overs West Indies remained 119 runs short from the target as Yuzi Chahal shone with the ball by picking up 4 crucial wickets.
Gill was named the player of the match and the player of the series as well for his brilliant performance throughout the series. The Indian opener got a bright start in all the three games and was on the verge of reaching a maiden three-figure mark in ODIs, but rain spoiled the party for the youngster.

As he left unbeaten on 98* due to rain in the 3rd ODI, he entered into a unique list of Indian openers who remained not out on the 90s due to the same reason. Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Sunil Gavaskar are in that list. Now Gill’s name has entered into the list.
The list of players:
93* – Kris Srikkanth
92* – Sunil Gavaskar
96* – Sachin Tendulkar
99* – Virender Sehwag
97* – Shikhar Dhawan
98* – Shubman Gill
Gill expressed his disappointment after the match and said that he was really looking to reach the three figure mark as the rain was not under his control but he was ‘angry’ with himself as for the way he threw his wicket after getting set on the crease.
India will now face West Indies for the 5 match T20I series. Gill is not part of the squad, but the way he has performed, he surely put his his name to think about by the selectors for all 3 formats
