After Virat Kohli got back his form in Asia Cup 2022, many former cricket experts want him to take retirement from the shorter format of the game.
Virat Kohli came out to be the leading run-scorer Indian batter in Asia Cup scoring more than 250 runs with fabulous average of 90-plus including 2 fifties, maiden T20 hundred and 30-plus score. In the last game of Asia Cup 2022, Virat scored his 71st international hundred and ended his century drought. But Pakistan’s former pacer Shoaib Akhtar predicted that Virat might take retirement from the shorter format.
In LIVE session hosted by India.com, Akhtar talked about Virat Kohli’s future in T20 format. Akhtar said that Kohli might just take retirement after the T20 World Cup. He may do that to extend his longevity in the other formats. If he (Akhtar) was him he would have looked at the larger picture and taken a call.
Few days ago, Akhtar’s countryman Afridi also opined about Virat Kohli’s cricketing career future. Afridi said that the way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He is a champion and he believes there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high.
