Shikhar Dhawan speaks up after not getting chance in Asia Cup squad

Opener Shikhar Dhawan was an integral part of India’s playing XI when men in blue played Asia Cup last time in 2018. But this time, Dhawan has been excluded from the squad.

Selectors are showing their trust in KL Rahul as the partner of Rohit Sharma for opening spot. Dhawan has not been impressive in T20I cricket lately. The main issue was his strike rate which was lesser as compared to his IPL strike rate. However, Dhawan has been pretty good in Asia Cup scoring 613 runs in 13 innings with a remarkable average of 51 including 2 hundreds. But the selectors must have considered the current form while picking the squad.

Even In last Asia Cup which happened in 2018, Dhawan had given an outstanding performance scoring 342 runs in 5 innings with a splendid average of 68.

Dhawan expressed his disappointment after not getting picked in Asia Cup squad. He said he is happy with what he gets. If he is playing in one format for India, he tries to give his everything in that format. He is a positive thinking person.

He looks at it in a way that he gets a chance to play in two or three months and it helps him to stay fresh. It is important for him to give importance to what he has instead of gloomy over what he doesn’t have, Dhawan added.

Recently Dhawan led Team India in ODI series against West Indies and completely whitewashed them. Even with the bat, he had a terrific series. Now, he is all set to lead men in blue for Zimbabwe tour for 3-match ODI series.
