Former Australian allrounder and one of the best limited overs allrounder Shane Watson picked his top 5 players for World T20 playing XI which is going to be conducted in Australia.
Shane Watson is currently the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals in IPL, before he was part of Chennai Super Kings’ IPL winning team. Watson has represented Australia from 2002 to 2016 and was the integral part of Australian squad winning Man of the tournament in T20 World Cup too.
When asked about his top 5 picks for WT20 playing XI, Watson’s first pick was Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Watson stated Babar is the No.1 T20I batsman in the world, and he just knows how to dominate. It is like he’s not even taking any risks, and he scores incredibly quickly against the best bowlers in the world.
Watson’s second choice was India’s flamboyant batter Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav is currently at number 2 rank in ICC T20 rankings for batsmen. Watson also opined that KL Rahul can also be worthy for India in T20 World Cup as his technique is well-suited for Australian conditions.
Watson selected his countryman David Warner as the third pick for WT20 team. Watson said that Warner won the Player of the Tournament in the last men’s T20 World Cup, with the Aussies winning, and has scored some great runs for the Delhi Capitals (in the IPL) as well. He is going to have plenty of fire in his belly to make his mark in a T20 World Cup at home, so he is going to be ready to go.
Number 4th player in Watson’s WT20 playing XI is Jos Buttler who had performed remarkably for England in last T20 World Cup in UAE. Moreover, he was impeccable for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 by scoring the most runs in the tournament.
Pakistan pacer Shaheen is the fifth pick in Watson’s playing XI for WT20. Afridi has been performing impressively for Pakistan in last few years. In the last T20 World Cup, Afridi showed his wrath on batters specially in powerplay where he troubled the batters a lot through his swinging deliveries.
