Former Pakistan allrounder Shahid Afridi wants Virat Kohli to retire from International cricket on high note.
Virat Kohli was spectacular in the Asia Cup 2022 as he remained the leading run-scorer Indian batter in the tournament. 33-year-old batter scored 2 fifties in the tournament and one hundred that was his 71st international hundred which came after 1000-plus days. Kohli was running out of form from last few years but considering his performance in the Asia Cup, it seems he is back in his old rhythm.
But Shahid Afridi wants Kohli to retire from international cricket now. Afridi said on Sama TV that the way Virat has played, the start that he had to his career, there was struggle initially before he made a name for himself. He(Kohli) is a champion and he believes there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. But in that scenario, the aim should be to go out on a high.
It shouldn’t reach a stage where you are dropped from the team and instead when you are at your peak. It seldom happens though. Very few players, especially cricketers from Asia make that decision, but he feels when Virat does it, he will do it style and probably in the same manner in which he started his career, Afridi added.
After a scintillating Asia Cup campaign, Virat Kohli eyes to contribute his 100-percent in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. Prior to that, Kohli will be seen in 5-match T20 series against South and T20 series against Australia from the last week of September.
