Former Australian captain stated that Virat Kohli might be able to break Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries record.
Virat Kohli recently scored his 71st hundred against Afghanistan and ended his 3-year century drought. He also equalled Ricky Ponting’s feat of scoring second most number of centuries after Sachin.
After Kohli’s 71st, several fans, experts and former cricketers have started the debate that Kohli can be able to break most centuries record. Ricky Ponting said on the ICC review that If you would have asked him three years ago, he would have said yes. But the fact that it has slowed down as much as it did yeah, he still thinks that it is possible for him(Kohli), there’s no doubt.
He still thinks Kohli has got a number of years ahead of him, but he guess to still be 30 international hundreds behind, that’s a lot. That’s five or six Test hundreds a year maybe for the next three or four years. If you throw a couple of one-day ones, maybe the odd T20 ones on top of it, Ponting added.
Look, he will never say never with Virat because you know once Kohli gets on a bit of a roll, you know how hungry he is and how keen for success he is. He will never say never that’s for sure, Ponting further stated.
