Ricky Ponting compared Suryakumar Yadav with Ab de Villiers

Suryakumar Yadav has been often been hailed as ‘Indian Mr 360°’ by many of the experts, former cricketer and fans too.

Recently one more appreciator of Surya joined this list. Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting compared Suryakumar Yadav with Former South African batsman Ab de Villiers because of his abilities of scoring runs in every part of the ground.

Ponting said that Surya scores 360 degrees around the ground, a bit like an AB de Villiers did when he was in his actual prime. The lap shots, the late cuts, you know, the ramps over the keeper’s head. He can hit down the ground.

He hits really well over the leg side, flicks to deep backward square particularly well, and he’s a good player of fast bowling and is a good player of spin bowling, Ponting added.

Ponting also talked about Surya’s batting position for Team India. Ponting wants him to bat in middle order and he doesn’t want Sky to face the new ball. Surya can control the game in the middle overs outside powerplay.

It’s one, two or four. He thinks Surya can open, but he thinks they should probably keep him away from the new ball, let him control the middle part of the game outside the Powerplay, through in the middle, and if he’s in at the end, you know what can happen, Ponting stated.
