On Wednesday, BCCI announced the squad for the 3 matches ODI series in which Kohli’s name is not there. It has been said by the selectors that he has been rested but some cricket experts are suspecting that he has been dropped due to his poor form. However Rohit Sharma , Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah may join the T20I team but Kohli is supposed to be rested there too.
According to TOI, the white ball series against England is very crucial for Virat Kohli and selectors will consider him for the future only if he performs well for the team in that series. If Reports are to be believed then BCCI is unhappy with the senior players as they are demanding rest after every second series. In this situation the 3 match T20I and ODI series against England will be an acid test for the Indian megastar.
Virat Kohli hasn’t been in a good form in last few months. He was expected to come back in form after the IPL but he was failed to perform in the final test against England. The wait for the century is getting longer and longer for him. Now he has started to fall in ICC Rankings as well.
However, according to Cricbuzz, Virat Kohli is believed to have requested the Selectors, team management and the BCCI to not consider him for the West Indies series. It will be a case of rest rather than axe.
But the absence of Virat Kohli cannot be construed as not being in the scheme of things as he is very much part of the decision makers plans for the World Cup, which may be a massive blow for India.
