Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has made a big prediction about the T20 World Cup, that will be going to take place in Australia. According to Ponting India and Australia will lock their horns for the grand finale of the mega event.
The T20 World Cup is going to be played in Australia in the October-November period. The defending champions will look to secure their title once again and this time on their home soil.
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has backed his home team for this tournament and predicted Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will face them in the final.
He said in an ICC review that he thinks Australia and India will be the two teams that will play the final game and Australia might beat India to win the title. The last T20 world cup was played in UAE, where they didn’t get the home support, so winning the title was not so remarkable but a way lot sweeter.
He also predicted that England might be a tough team to beat in this tournament as they have the perfect balanced team for the white ball format and they have improved a lot in this format over the last few years. According to Ponting, the strongest teams in the tournament will be India, Australia, and England on paper.
He also predicted that Pakistan can’t win this tournament if their captain Babar Azam won’t score runs. Talking about India, he has said that, last year there were some setbacks and the team selection was not looking stable but they have come a long way after that and have been playing serious cricket under Rohit Sharma.
