ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is just knocking at the door and Team India is getting ready for every situation they might face in the prestigious event. Ahead of the World Cup, India will be playing in the Asia Cup 2022. Team India would surely be looking forward to use Virat Kohli to his full potential and to redeem him in this tournament and former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel feels that the former Indian skipper might open alongside Rohit Sharma.
Parthiv told Cricbuzz that there shouldn’t be any doubt about Virat Kohli’s abilities. The Indian team should decide at which position Kohli wants to play and that’s why the Asia Cup becomes very crucial for the team.
He also feels that India should find the right combination in this tournament.
Parthiv opines that as KL Rahul is not fit l, Virat might open with Rohit Sharma in Asia Cup. He also added that Virat is not a new option as an opener as he had many big seasons as a RCB opener.
Eventually, earlier, it was scheduled that the Asia Cup will be hosted by Sri Lanka in the UAE. But the tournament was shifted out of Sri Lanka due to the ongoing economic crisis.
The match against arch rival Pakistan would be India’s first match in the fixture of the upcoming Asia Cup, and after this match, the Sharma-led Indian side will face off against a Qualifier. After completing the group stage , there would be a Super 4 phase, and the best two teams will progress to the finals.
The main focus of the Indian team will surely be to win this tournament as well as bring back the star players into their shape before the T20 WC.
