Pakistan’s ace pacer Shaheen Afridi has ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup.
Pakistan’s most lethal pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi is ruled out of the upcoming Asia Cup and home series against England due to ligament injury.
Afridi has been the top performer for Pakistan in bowling department. Batters have often been seen struggling against the opening spell of Afridi. With Afridi’s exclusion, Pakistan lost their main bowler for the prestigious Asia Cup tournament.
Shaheen got the injury during first test against Sri Lanka which took place in July, 2022. He is currently with the Pakistan squad for the rehabilitation program and being scrutinized by the trainers and physiotherapist. He has been advised to take rest for 4 to 6 months. He might be seen in action again in T20 series against New Zealand just before T20 World Cup in Australia
Last time Afridi participated in a five-plus team tournament was in T20 World Cup 2021 where he wrecked havoc on batters picking 7 wickets in the tournament with stupendous economy of 7. He was one of the significant reasons behind Pakistan qualifying for the semifinal.
Besides, Pakistan will start their Asia Cup 2022 campaign by facing Team India on 28th August. Pakistan have won Asia Cup tournament twice and they must be looking to triumph over it for the third time.
