Defeating their respective opponents Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai secured their places in the Grand Final of Ranji Trophy,2022, which will be going to take place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru from 22nd June. It’s the 47th time Mumbai in the final stage at this historic tournament while Madhya Pradesh is going to appear first time in the final since the 1998-99 Session.

In the first Semi-final, Madhya Pradesh beat the previous year’s runner-up Bengal by 174 runs. MP set up a score of 341 runs with the help of captain Himanshu Mantri’s 165 runs in whose reply Bengal stopped well behind 68 runs in spite of well-fought centuries of Manoj Tiwary and Shahbaz Ahmed.MP added 281 more in the second innings and set up a huge target of 350 runs in front of Bengal. Bengal faced a batting collapse which made them stop only at 175 runs. Kumar Karthikeya was the star of this match with a fifer in the second innings.

In the Second Semi-final, Mumbai drew with Uttar Pradesh. But due to a huge lead of 213 runs in the first innings, Mumbai secured their place in the final. The star of the match was young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal who slammed tons in both of the innings.

Now all the eyes will be on Chinnaswamy to witness if Mumbai can win a record number of titles or Madhya Pradesh can continue their dream run and secure their first title.
