“Mai bhi maar dunga chakka but Sensible Mera Single Lena Tha Aur Permission Bhi Nhi Tha”, recalled Siraj after the game

Axar Patel’s heroic knock helped India chase 312 runs in the second ODI accompanied by the knocks of Sanju Samson(54) & Shreyas Iyer(63).

West Indies set the target of 312 runs after winning the toss by the help of Shai Hope’s 115-run-knock and Pooran’s half century. Shardul Thakur took the most number of wickets from Indian side (7-0-54-3). After the dismissals of Samson & Iyer, it was Patel who took the responsibility to close the match for India.

On the last ball of 49th over, Avesh Khan lost his wicket and then Mohammad Siraj made his entry. 8 runs needed off the last over, on the first delivery no run came from Axar’s bat, on the second ball he tried to take double but he had to satisfy with only a single. On the third delivery Siraj gave strike rate to Siraj after taking single and Axar finished off the match with a six on the 4th delivery.

Siraj after the match revealed that he wanted to hit six on the third delivery but there was strict instruction from the management that he has to take a single, Thus he couldn’t hit a six. Siraj further added that Axar Patel was looking so pumped off and he was looking to hit a six. Even he (Siraj) wanted to hit six but taking single was more sensible thing to do at that point.
