The recent time of Virat Kohli is not going well at all. He failed to capture his opportunities in the last two tests in the 3match T20I series against England. Now according to reports he sustained a groin strain in the last T20I on Sunday.
A BCCI official has informed PTI that Virat had sustained a groin strain in the last T20I match against England. But the depth of injury is not known yet. It’s uncertain when he got the injury while fielding or bowling. He has also informed that Kohli might miss the 1st ODI match at Oval on Tuesday.
The team management wants to give rest to the 33 years old veteran batter to recover fully and take the ground on the last two matches of the series at Lord’s and Manchester.
Virat didn’t travel with the teammates from Nottingham to London due to get a checkup of his strain and assess the condition.
This may be another reason to delay the date of announcement of the T20I squad against West Indies. Virat’s place in the T20I team has started to be questioned by some experts like Kapil Dev, Virendra Sehwag, etc but captain Rohit Sharma firmly backed his one of the main warriors.
On Monday there was an optional practice session for the newly joined ODI members like Shikhar Dhawan, Shardul Thakur, Prashidh Krishna. After securing the T20I series by a 2-1 margin Indian captain Rohit Sharma will surely look up to seize the ODI series too and lessen the pain of losing the all-important Edgbaston test.
