Team India is getting ready for the tour of England. Boys in Blue will be playing one test that was left of the last series, 3 ODIs and 3 T20s and 5 Tests. BCCI social media account posted the picture of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Shubhman Gill and other players on the plane to England.
As much this tour is big for team India, they are suffering from injuries of their big players like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. According to the reports, Rohit Sharma has injured his thumb and he might miss out the first few matches of England tour. On the other hand, KL Rahul has injured his groin and he has been ruled out of the whole England tour. This is the big blow for Team India considering how good they both were in the last test series and helped India to take lead in the series.
KL Rahul was injured at the last moment before the South Africa series where he was supposed to lead the team. About the news of KL missing the England tour, BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that KL is injured and he will miss the England tour. He also added that management is working on Rahul’s fitness and he wll be going to Germany for the rehab. Reports says that KL will went off to Germany at the end of June or in the first week of July.
With KL Rahul and supposedly Rohit Sharma too missing the tour will be headache to the management for leading the team. Pant and Pandya are the obvious choice. They have the experience of captaining in IPL and Pant is currently leading the team verses South Africa.
Also, Pandya will lead against Ireland where India will be playing 2 T20s before the matches against England being. Jasprit Bumrah may be other option too for leading the team. Team India is ahead in the test series vs England and BCCI would like to take advantage of that and go into the game with their best squad.
