Shubman Gill is trying his best to prove himself a worthy opener for India in future.

In Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy game, between Mumbai & Karnataka, Gill showed everyone that he can bat aggressively with massive strike rate when needed. Gill smashed 126 runs against Karnataka in just 55 balls with strike rate of 229 which helped Mumbai in putting 225-run total on board.

Gill has been phenomenal in the ongoing SMAT 2022, scoring 285 runs in 7 innings with an amazing strike rate of 191. One day before, Gill was selected in India’s T20 squad for New Zealand tour. But many people raised questions on his selection in shorter format squad but with this knock, Shubman has surely replied his critics in style.

After the game, Gill talked about his selection in the national team for New Zealand tour. “It’s always good to see your name in the Indian team in any format and it’s time to show that I deserve that spot,” said Gill. Even in IPL 2022, Gill had performed superbly with the bat scoring 483 runs in the tournament and remained the second top-scorer from Gujarat side.
