Indian Star all-rounder tested covid positive, misses flight to England for the only test match
Team India faced another massive setback after KL Rahul’s injury as Indian star all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin tested positive in the Covid test and couldn’t travel to London with the team for the only test match that is going to be played on Edgbaston from 1st July. He will join the rest of the squad after having been quarantined and clearing all the necessary covid protocols.
A BCCI source has told PTI that currently Ashwin is in quarantine but they are hopeful that the star all-rounder will recover in time and will join the rest of the squad well before the test match. Perhaps he might miss the practice match that India will play against Leicestershire.
Currently, the rest of the test squad has started training in Leicestershire. Head coach Rahul Dravid has already landed in London along with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant. They will join the team soon. There will be a special eye on Ravindra Jadeja in the absence of Ravi Ashwin.
Currently, India has the lead in the test series by 2-1 against the home team England. It would be a historic series win if India could win the last test match or even manage to draw the match. But Captain Rohit Sharma has already informed that they are looking to win this test match and make the date special for Indian Cricket history.
