The grand tournament of T20 cricket, T20 World Cup is about to commence in two months. Several experts and former cricketers offering their views on team selection and the right combination for Team India.
Recently, India’s fielder coach R Sridhar has opined about team selection for T20 World Cup. He has backed Off-spinner R Ashwin in Team India’s World Cup Squad. Ashwin is the second leading wicket-taker spinner for India. He has taken 64 wickets and is at number 4 in most wicket-taker list for India in T20I.
Sridhar said that India can bowl Bhuvi and Shami twice and now that Hardik is bowling and Jadeja is an all-rounder, they have the fifth and sixth bowler covered. Now put in a leg-spinner in the mix, and that is grandmaster Chahal.
Sridhar added that That should be the bowling combination for India. And if push comes to shove, they have the legendary R Ashwin to go back to. It’s T20 cricket and he’s a man who can ask so many questions,”
However, not many cricketers are in the support of R Ashwin playing T20 World Cup. Ks Srikkanth recently said that he doesn’t understand Ashwin being selected in T20 squad for West Indies as he has not played any T20I game from last 8 months against South Africa and England.
