Joe Root is in the form of his life at this moment. His massive partnership with Jonny Bairstow helped England to chase the target very easily and win historic India vs England test match. His reverse scoop six against Shardul Thakur left the fans amazed.
Earlier India put a 378 runs target in front of the hosts. England got a very good start. Their openers, Alex Lees and Zak Crawley gave a hundred-run stand on which Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow built the palace.
Both of them played all around the park and showed their range of shots. But Joe Root’s reverse scoop against Indian medium-pacer Shardul Thakur stole the show.
It was Shardul’s 10th over. On the third ball, Thakur delivered an outside off-stump delivery on which Root went for the reverse scoop. Eventually, he connected that one too well and the ball sailed over the boundary rope for six.
The whole stadium went on their feet to applaud Root’s courageous shot. It’s not the first time Root has gone for some innovative shots in test cricket. He also played a similar reverse scoop against Neil Wagner in the England vs New Zealand series.
Root remained unbeaten on 142 while first-innings centurion Jonny Bairstow smashed another ton in the second innings too and scored 114 not out. Both made a massive 269 runs partnership that helped England to cross the victory line and level the series at 2-2.

Instead of having a huge lead in the first innings Indian batting and bowling both failed dramatically in the second innings and failed to win the historic test match against England on their home soil.
