Siraj bowled a jaffa which took Joe Root with it in the last session of 2nd day’s play.
India pushed back England’s batting lineup with the help of Captain Jasprit Bumrah’s outstanding bowling. He took the initial three wickets of the England batting lineup.
But the whole match came into the visitors’ grip when Md. Siraj dismissed Joe Root with his outstanding delivery. The ball came back to Root too quickly which he wanted to guide at the third man. But the ball clipped his gloves and went straight to Rishabh Pant who completed the catch with ease. Root returned to the pavilion on 31 runs.
Earlier India put up a score of 416 with help of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s century and captain Jasprit Bumrah’s cameo. Bumrah created a world record by smashing 35 runs in Stuart Broad’s over which is the highest in Test cricket history.
Then Bumrah showed his class with the ball and picked up three wickets in quick succession. But a partnership was being built up by Jonny Bairstow and former captain Joe Root but Siraj came with the much-needed breakthrough with a peach of a delivery.
Few overs are still left in today’s game. If Indian bowlers can pick up some more wickets the match would surely be packed up by India
