Renowned Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar slammed senior Indian cricketers for taking rest during bilateral series. Few days ago, BCCI announced squad for the ODI series against West Indies. Senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma & Jasprit Bumrah are given rest from this series while Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain.
Indian team will be seen playing with their main squad for ODI series against England which is starting from 12th of July. To reduce the work-load of the senior cricketers alongside Rishabh Pant & Hardik Pandya, BCCI decided not to pick them for West Indies series.

Sunil Gavaskar on Sports Tak said that he does not like players taking rest playing for India. They do not take rest during IPL, but they do while playing for India. There are only 20 overs to face in an innings in T20 Cricket which should not affect the body. Only in test cricket body gets affected not in the shorter formats.
Former cricketer added that BCCI need to consider about giving rest to cricketers. The players in A-grade category get good contracts and receive payment for every match. We don’t see CEO or MDs of any company gets so much time off. Gavaskar stated that Indian team should be more professional and a line needs to be drawn. If a player needs to take rest he should reduce his guarantees. How can a player say that he doesn’t want to play for Indian Team. That is why he disagrees with the concept of giving rest.
