Sunil Gavaskar is easily one of the most iconic cricketers from India. He spread cricket in India through his ravishing batting and India’s first cricket ambassador around the globe.
Now an another achievement is added in his account as Leicestershire cricket ground is going to be named after him. Sunil Gavaskar already has stadiums on his name in United States of America and Tanzania. Gavaskar will travel to Leicestershire to unveil the name plaque. Furthermore, his image is printed on one whole wall of the ground.
Keith Vaz, UK’s Indian origin MP said that they are enthralled and honoured that Gavaskar agreed to have the ground and pitch named after him. He is legend who entertained cricket fans with his exquisite performance. He is not just a little master but great master of the game. Nothing elates the Indian population of Leicestershire more than when a legendary Indian cricketer visits us.
Sunil Gavaskar is one of the greatest Indian batsmen of all time. He is the first ever cricketer to cross 10k-run-mark in test cricket. He averaged 50 at the time when batsmen used to play without the helmets. He is also an integral part of 1983 world Cup winning team. Currently he is a cricket commentator and an expert.
