“David Warner is at the top of the order. I think just his aggressive attitude, the way he starts the innings at the top, and the confidence he has from the last T20 World Cup” said Gilchrist.
Next he picked Pakistan captain Babar Azam who has scored 3039 runs in 87 T20Is at a strike rate of 130.03 with 2 centuries and 27 fifties. Gilchrist stated that His versatility across all formats, but also when it’s getting down to T20 cricket, just across all conditions, I think he can play all conditions really well.”
Gilchrist picked Hardik Pandya as the 3rd best T20 player. Hardik Pandya has been in a phenomenal form since his return from injury. He also became the number 4 ranked T20I all-rounder. “Pandya is just an awesome figure straight across the board. His ability to bat, bowl, field, and entertain, he’s definitely in there” said Gilchrist.
Rashid Khan came at number 4 in Gilchrist’s top T20 players list. Rashid has remained ICC T20I cricketer of the decade. Gilchrist said that He’s just got to be there in any T20 team, doesn’t he? Cricketer of the year in this format across the world. Over the last decade, Rashid Khan is in there.”
Gilchrist picked England opener Jos Buttler at number 5 position. Buttler was England’s leading run-scorer in 2021 T20 World Cup as well as in IPl 2022. It’s a bit batting heavy I know, but Jos Buttler for me. He is just dynamic, with his power and his courage to take it on. Simply a stroke of brilliance from him and its game over” said Gilchrist.
