According to a report, the Indian Government has requested the BCCI to organize an India XI vs World XI match on the occasion of the 75th year of India’s independence. The match has been proposed to be played on 22nd August.
According to the sources, the Ministry of Culture is currently talking with the BCCI officials and they have proposed the match. The match will be a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign.
BCCI officials have informed that the proposal is only in the discussion stage and not yet finalized as many challenges will be there to accommodate all international players.
He told about the proposal from the government and said that almost a pool of 13-14 international players is needed for the match. There shouldn’t be any problem for the Indian megastars like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli’s availability as they are to be rested from the Zimbabwe tour. But gathering all the international players would be a challenge as they will be busy in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and English Domestic League.
BCCI is looking to free participation from the International players to be part of this match. The match is scheduled to be played in New Delhi though it’s not confirmed yet.
